Delivery Technologies used for Distance Education in Bangladesh Open University

The advent of unprecedented information and communication tools and technologies has pushed distance-learning system to the forefront of educational practice. The increased use of information and communication tools and technology provide open access to learning and teaching. Bangladesh Open University (BOU), the only distance education provider in Bangladesh, has been trying to adopt the use of various technologies for its distance delivery. This paper describes the amount of different delivery technologies used for distance education at BOU in 2002 and the changes of their use from 1998 to 2002. From this study, it reveals that only the use of second generation delivery technologies like Audio-Video technology has been increased while there is no use of fifth generationintelligent flexible learning model. It also summarizes the amount of distance education courses offered around the world in 2002.
